I have searched for a mineral sunscreen for what seems like decades. Some manufacturers (ahem, EltaMD) claim their products are mineral-based and reef-safe, but sneak questionable ingredients (e.g, octinoxate, octisalate, butyloctyl salicylate) into the inactive ingredients list. Research shows that these, and others, are endocrine inhibitors that disrupt ecosystems, including coral reefs. They are probably not great for humans either. Including them in the list of inactive ingredients is unconscionable, but that is a rant for another day. Other mineral sunscreens I have tried leave a white, sticky residue no matter how much you rub them in. After spending a ton of time and money on this search, I found this remarkable product. All of the ingredients are benign for humans and their environment. Moreover, it feels like a fabulous moisturizing lotion, increasing the likelihood that I will use it every day (without cussing). I also love that it has prickly pear, which I have found to be wonderful for my skin.
My only wish is that it came in larger containers!
